I stare into Jagger's eyes. I can see something’s eating away at him.

It has to be whatever my brother was referring to. I know he got pissed about what Ridge said to me, but that’s not it. That’s not the reason for his vacant stare. Reaching into his pocket, I grab his keys and unlock the doors. Opening the passenger door, I motion for him to get inside. He frowns.

"I can drive,” he states, not really looking at me.

After a few moments of silence, he sighs and gets in. Walking over to the driver's side, I get in and put the key in the ignition. It's been so long since he's let me drive his car, I hope it comes back to me.

“Don’t grind the gears.” He winces just as I put it in reverse and hear a loud grinding noise.

Giggling, I slowly back out of the parking space before pushing the clutch in and shifting into first. As I press down on the gas, the car jerks, which just makes me giggle harder. I mean, how hard can this be? On the way here, he was driving and shifting with one hand while his other was stroking me.

After a few lurches, I finally get the hang of it and make it safely to my dorm. Jagger still hasn't said a word. As much as it worries me, I try not to focus on it. I let him sit in silence for as long as possible before I pull the parking brake and shut his car off.

"Do you want to come up?" I ask, fidgeting with my hands. I don't know what to say or do, and I hope like hell he doesn't turn me down. I'm not ready to say goodbye to him yet, not after the cruel things my brother said.

Ridge thinks I'm nothing more than a slut. The kind they fuck at parties. I will never be that girl. I have a little more respect for myself than that. The only guy I've ever wanted is the one sitting right next to me. The one who has always done everything in his power to protect me, even when I thought I didn't need him. Jagger Bishop is the only guy I'll want for the rest of my life.

It's always been him.

He reaches across the center console and grabs my arm, tugging me over the damn thing and into his lap. I straddle him, my dress bunching around my hips. If anyone walks by, they will probably see my ass cheeks through the damn windshield. At least his side windows are tinted.

His fingers gently caress my jaw before he cups my cheeks in his hands. "He's right,” he whispers.

I stare into his eyes, trying to piece together what he means. “About what?” I run a finger across his lips.

"That I'm a coward. He's going to divulge my secret, and you'll hate me for it. Bresin, I–"

I press my lips to his, kissing him like my life depends on it.
